Responsibilities
- Operate a range of construction equipment safely and efficiently (including excavators, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, dozers, graders, water trucks, dump trucks, lowboys, etc.)
- Follow both written and verbal instructions with accuracy and reliability
- Maintain a positive, self-motivated, and can-do attitude on the job
- Understand and apply OSHA Trenching Standards
- Ensure safe excavation slopes and proper barricading
- Identify and avoid underground utilities prior to digging
- Perform minor maintenance and servicing of vehicles/equipment, and report larger issues to supervisors
- Accurately log time and materials used
- Understand aggregate sizes and classifications
- Comply with weight requirements for outgoing loads
- Use Top Con GPS (preferred but not required)
- Participate in out-of-town projects as needed
- Provide limited supervision to laborers and contribute to daily job reporting
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- 1–2 years of related experience or training preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid driver’s license required; CDL Class A preferred
- Ability to apply common sense to carry out detailed instructions
- Physically able to perform essential job functions with or without accommodations

- While on the job, you’ll regularly be required to sit, talk, and hear. Frequent tasks include climbing and using hands to handle or feel controls and tools. At times, you may need to stand, walk, crawl, kneel, bend, and reach overhead. Lifting or moving items up to 100 lbs. may be required occasionally.
- To operate equipment safely and effectively, specific vision abilities are necessary, including close vision, distance vision, color recognition, peripheral awareness, and depth perception.
